On Cortes Island, there are two lakes – Hague Lake and Gunflint Lake – that are joined together by one bridge for only access. We can get to both lakes from our backyard and The Kw’as Park trails. I walk those trails almost every day but rarely do I see anyone else on them, and it is even more uncommon to find people on either lake. The bridge that joins these two beautiful lakes is old and you can either walk over it or go under, but if you choose that option, you must paddle or swim – hahahah! This is what happened the other day. What a wonderful sight it was to see this couple canoe down the channel from Hague Lake; I asked them if I could take their picture and of course Betty had to get in the shot and within seconds, they were off again to Gunflint Lake. I don’t think I will ever forget this moment and I just had to share it with all of you because it was just simply Cool + Unexpected.
