BalducciArt = Wearable Art

I have recently been creating with a new medium and I am very excited to share this with you. Yes, it’s official! I have now added Textile Art to my wide range of mediums to work with; using wool, recycled cloth, naturally dyed materials, vintage buttons, beads ¬†and embroidery thread. Which brings me to the creation of a new page to my website for you to check out. On it, you will be able to see my new handmade designs available for purchase – you can either send me a palette of colour for inspiration to have your own Bandana commissioned or choose from the ones I have already created. Prices will vary due to cost of materials. I am having so much fun “painting” with this new medium and I look forward to sharing my new wearable BalducciArt with you. Please feel free to email me for more details laurabalducciart@gmail.com

P.S. Etsy store well be opening soon….

Installation 9: Dolly

dsc_8362-editdsc_8361-edit

Dolly is the 9th installation of 13 from The Other-Side presents That Wall art project. Each installation is unique in its own way and features art on both sides, as well as their own song on a soundtrack that was created to make them all come alive.

Dolly is as cute as a child; she likes to play games and pick flowers. She does not take much seriously, and even though she is reaching her mid thirty’s, she is still single with no regrets because she has such a rich and innocent inner life. Dolly is handcrafted from polymer clay. Her naturally dyed skirt is beaded from a small collection of beads I bought in Mexico years ago. The other side of her piece is my interpretation of graffiti art which I created using spray paint, acrylic paint and collage.

Each installation is for sale and comes with its own soundtrack. In order to experience the full effect of the installation, please check out the music video below which will take you on a journey through the full show. You can also read the stellar review the show garnered for a deeper insight into the experience!!! Feel free to share and please, contact me for more info such as availability and pricing.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Magic

I love getting mail! Sometimes it’s only bills but other times, you can receive a little Magic!!!

One of my dear Vancouver friends just sent me a piece of his 3-dimensional art and it’s a magically amazing as him. He crafted me one of his Mandalas, and adorned it with beads he acquired on his recent trip to Italy… and to say the least, I positively love it! The Mandala is an ancient meditative game used to relieve stress that originated in Tibet 2000 years ago. It can be made to hold many different shapes and each each position represents something in the universe we share. At this time, mine stands in the position of the world as it reminds me that we all stand together in this world, and together we can create magic for the future. xoxo

Weekly Photo Challenge – Shine

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of being involved in the creation of a birthing necklace for a dear friend of mine on Cortes Island who is about to welcome a new addition to her family. This was a new experience for me and a very positive one. We all came together and brought a bead to add to the necklace. Some beads were homemade and others came from our personal collections. The purpose of the birthing necklace is to let the mother-to-be Shine with the energy of her fellow ladies to give her strength during labour, as well as the knowledge she has our support. It was a beautiful afternoon with lots of hugs, treats and crafting. I took this opportunity to create a bead out of polymer clay and wool I naturally dyed – I used lilac to dye one strand pink and indigo to dye the other one blue… and of course it was Shiny too!

Installation 5: Ariel

Ariel is the 5th installation of 13 from The Other-Side presents That Wall art project. Each installation is unique in its own way and features art on both sides, as well as their own song on a soundtrack that was created to make them all come alive.

Ariel has the kind of spirit about her that makes you want to breathe the same air she does. She makes you appreciate that there are many personalities in this world we all share; and would like you to be conscious of the fact that – just as you don’t have to groove with everyone out there – no one has to groove with you either!!! Ariel is a one-of-a-kind art doll hand-crafted from polymer clay. Her hat is crafted from leather and beads, her hair is made of wool that was dyed with indigo, and her dress is sewn from drapery samples I collected over the years. The other side of her piece is my interpretation of graffiti art which I created using spray paint, acrylic paint and collage.

Each installation is for sale and comes with its soundtrack. In order to experience the full effect of the installation, please check out the music video below which will take you on a journey through the full show. You can also read the stellar review the show garnered for a deeper insight into the experience!!! Feel free to share and please, contact me for more info such as availability and pricing.
