I would like to take a moment to wish you all a wonderful Winter Solstice and much peace, abundance, and joy in 2018!!! However you choose to take a few moments out of your everyday life over the next two weeks to express your love and gratitude to your family and friends, I hope it is filled with good food, much laughter, and many special moments. Thank you for supporting my art, following my blog, and taking a moment to share, comment, or send me an email. I really do appreciate every single one of you more than I can say!

Air Mail by Laura Balducci

2017 was a bumpy year for many of us and the planet in general, even if just with the extreme weather around the world… and in my backyard! But it was also a successful year in many ways, and it is now drawing to an end. I, for one, am ready for the next chapter as there are so many new goals to be set and achieved, and many challenges to conquer. I feel like I accomplished a lot with my art this year thanks to all of you, and for this I am very grateful.

I have also faced personal challenges; as you may know I had to make the big decision of retiring from my career as a stylist/makeup artist due to physical issues. The last two months have in fact been very strange for me… for the last 32 years, the build-up to the holidays was always fully booked with hair cut appointments and I usually ran around like a crazy person… But not this year. I am taking advantage of this quiet time to sign off and spend some quality time with my loved ones, my zoo members, and in my art studio. I am focused on doing art in different mediums these days and I look forward to the results. I am pretty excited to share the future with you all and I invite you to check my website/blog every once in a while as I am planning an overhaul in the year. I’ll be back in the first week of 2018 to chat about my new goals! No resolutions for me this year!!!

Wishing you and yours a Happy Holiday Season!

Sincerely,

Laura Balducci

Weekly Photo Challenge – It’s Not This Time of Year Without…

Putting Our Garden Beds To Sleep !!! Let them start composting the mulch, and rest from now till Spring. We had a fantastic season and look forward to sowing them again for the next growing season, but for now it’s time to cozy on up and get to work in the studio – the perfect thing to do this time of year as the frost comes and the holiday season is about to begin. Xoxo from Cortes Island, BC, Canada.

New Work, New Art Installation On the Way…

The time has come for me to get back to work in my amazing studio! I have been waiting for this season to come so I could settle back into a routine of creating art daily. After spending the last many months preparing the birth of a new installation – based on pressed flowers I collected as well as naturally dyed random items, it’s now time to put all the pieces together. I am taking things to a new level with the techniques I have learned over the last year and combining them in my own unique way; only time shall tell what it will grow into. I look forward to sharing the process with you all. Here is a sneak-peek at the beginning stages of something new and exciting!!!

(lamp shade, gold leaf, pressed flowers) what does this equals to? The start of a new art installation!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Chaos

As we move deeper into fall, the Chaos of harvest season is now behind us, as can attest the preserves and goodies stored on our shelves and in our freezer for us to enjoy all winter long. Which brings us to the present!!! After a way too long break from the studio, and looking at all the materials I have collected over the months, I can tell it’s now high time to cozy up into my studio and get the creative Chaos out of my head. But where does one ¬†get started? 1: Organize Chaos, 2: Make a plan, 3: Buckle down… and play!!!
