Installation 11: Cynthia

Cynthia  is the 11th installation of 13 from The Other-Side presents That Wall art project. Each installation is unique in its own way and features art on both sides, as well as their own song on a soundtrack that was created to make them all come alive.

Cynthia is a very friendly gal; she is the type of person who will help you read your map and find your way if you are lost. She is cheerful even when things are tough and a real goddess when life shines bright. Cynthia is handmade from polymer clay and is one of a kind. The book she is reading is crafted from a map of the West Coast of British Columbia. Her outfit is made out of an old vintage jacket I found at a garage sale (from the 60’s, I believe!) The other side of her piece is my interpretation of graffiti art which I created using spray paint, acrylic paint and collage.

Each installation is for sale and comes with its own soundtrack. In order to experience the full effect of the installation, please check out the music video below which will take you on a journey through the full show. You can also read the stellar review the show garnered for a deeper insight into the experience!!! Feel free to share and please, contact me for more info such as availability and pricing.

Installation 9: Dolly

Dolly is the 9th installation of 13 from The Other-Side presents That Wall art project. Each installation is unique in its own way and features art on both sides, as well as their own song on a soundtrack that was created to make them all come alive.

Dolly is as cute as a child; she likes to play games and pick flowers. She does not take much seriously, and even though she is reaching her mid thirty’s, she is still single with no regrets because she has such a rich and innocent inner life. Dolly is handcrafted from polymer clay. Her naturally dyed skirt is beaded from a small collection of beads I bought in Mexico years ago. The other side of her piece is my interpretation of graffiti art which I created using spray paint, acrylic paint and collage.

Each installation is for sale and comes with its own soundtrack. Installation 8: Loretta

Loretta  is the 8th installation of 13 from The Other-Side presents That Wall art project. Each installation is unique in its own way and features art on both sides, as well as their own song on a soundtrack that was created to make them all come alive.

Loretta is independent and fights for freedom – limitations are not her friends! She is spontaneous, versatile, and appreciates a good debate. She does, at times, end up paying a certain price for her opinions, but she likes a victory too much to change her ways, whatever the costs!!! Loretta is handmade out of polymer clay and recycled clothing from my closet. Including a t-shirt a friend who brought it back from New York back in the mid 1990’s, her mohawk is made from wool, and her shorts are crafted from the bottom hem of a pair of pants. The other side of her piece is my interpretation of graffiti art which I created using spray paint, acrylic paint and collage.

Each installation is for sale and comes with its soundtrack. In order to experience the full effect of the installation, please check out the music video below which will take you on a journey through the full show. 5 Components = 13 Installation Pieces

Well Friday is the big day !!! This is when I will unveil my latest body of work – an art installation called “The Other-Side presents That Wall” (as many of you already know!). I have spent the last year and a half working on this project and I am very excited to share it. It was not a solo effort as the collaboration of a few other artists has helped bring it to life – this has been a very inspiring experience! The 13 installation pieces are comprised of 5 components: Art dolls that are handmade and one of a kind, recycled drawers featuring my interpretation of graffiti art, cages that were donated by a friend of mine, pedestals made from recycled rebar by That’s Awesome! welding, and songs from the soundtrack by the Other-Side, a 5 artists band who came together solely for the purpose of creating music for this art installation. I would like to thank them all for their support, their time and their amazing contributions towards this exciting art project. xoxox Laura

A sneak peek!!!

The Other-Side presents That Wall

My new art installation involves many mixed media. One element is my interpretation of Graffiti Art inspired by the West side of the Berlin Wall. Here is a Sneak Peek at one of the 13 panels I created on recycled dresser drawers. I used spray paint, collage, acrylic and found items. Look out for info on two upcoming solo art shows this summer.
